A few weeks
ago I went to Town Hall Deventer. Here new inhabitants were welcomed by the
mayor. And we (the new inhabitants) were the first group that were welcomed in
the new Town Hall. This is a beautiful building. With an interesting story.
The
iron for the windows are made of fingerprints. These fingerprints are made by
inhabitants of Deventer. Many people were against a new Town Hall. Everywhere
was a cut back. But the municipality build a new expansive Town Hall. There
were protest parades. During this parade some citizens gave the finger to the
mayor.
The mayor
wanted art in the new Town Hall. A competition was held, and an artist from
Deventer won. She would design the art for the Town Hall. There was only one
problem. She also gave the finger to the mayor during the protest parade. So
she made a plan! She asked the finger prints of citizens of Deventer. Of course
some of them were in the same parade. Thy didn’t want to give there finger
prints. She said: I didn’t say which finger you need to use. Some chose to give
the finger again! So now their protest processed in the Town Hall forever.
